Portland is a great city to live in and that's not just us talking but publication after publication in the last couple of years from all over the world. This has resulted in an influx of creatives from all over and of all ages. In addition to that we have the ocean to play in and the mountains to play on. That makes living here a lot of fun. A great place to grow friendships, families and businesses.
On this page we will try to show our city and surroundings through photographs. No theme beyond that. Hope you enjoy it!

February 7, 2009. A sunny and warm day on Hawthorne Street. Tons of street musicians were out performing. Here you can see a young bluegrass band playing on the street corner. )(I wish there was a zoom function on my iPhone camera).

January 7, 2009, Wednesday (by Greg Tozian). Today, my friend Cathy, the main photographer for the Portland Business Journal, asked me to take her profile picture for her Facebook page. So, we went slogging off with our Canon SLRs through the rain to the alley where Berbati’s Pan is, to get some good, urban-atmosphere shots. Then she took me to Stumptown for a soy latte. This is they way they do them, with an elegant leaft design in foam. I hope she likes the photos as much as I liked the coffee.

January 6, 2009, Tuesday. (by Greg Tozian) We hear a lot about the "creative class" in Portland, and it's true, we've got a lot of talented people. This I saw on the sidewalk outside a coffee shop. It's what the French call "pouchois." The artist cuts a stencil by hand and then hits it with a spray paint can. It's hard to complain about graffiti when it looks this good, eh?

January 5, 2009, Monday. (by Greg Tozian) Now that we're back at work, in our busy neighborhood downtown, we see people commuting in all kinds of ways. Bikes, cars, buses, the MAX line, the street car, on foot, and, of course, by skateboard. This fellow's waiting for the light by the Great Harvest Bakery. He rode his board across the street and then got on another mode of transportation: the MAX.

January 4, 2009, Sunday. Thanks to the amazing bounty surrounding us, great chefs, innovative restaurateurs, and news publications around the world Portland has become known as a food Mekka. Portland's Pastaworks was here long before that and has become an institution for food loving Portlanders. It's a grocer, deli, and butcher with an amazing selection of local and imported cheeses — shown here.

January 3, 2009. Saturday. Beautiful sunset in Portland today. This was shot driving over the Willamette River to downtown. One of Portland's nick names is Bridgetown. This is shot from Hawthorne Bridge with a view of Morrison Bridge.

January 2, 2009, Friday. SE Floral Street looking at Laurelhurst Park (by Arve Overland). Today we woke up to unexpected snow and sunshine. Portland is unpredictable.

January 1, 2009, Thursday. South East Hawthorne Blvd. (by Arve Overland). 2009 started with heavy rain. Arve took this photo driving through the Hawthorne neighborhood.
