Client: For more than 15 years, Dolphin Software™ has been the innovation leader for chemical compliance and management solutions for Fortune 1,000 companies. The Overland Agency became Dolphin’s agency of record in 2001.
Challenge: In 2006, Dolphin developed an exciting new service, Dolphin Safe Source®, that continues the company’s tradition of innovation. The program gives global industries the ability to analyze their chemical inventories with deep visibility to reduce the numbers of hazardous products they use, to find “greener” and safer alternative products, and to save money in the process. However, this service brand represented a whole new audience (supply chain and procurement decision makers). Dolphin needed sophisticated yet attention-grabbing new branding and a marketing vehicle that would engage and motivate this new executive audience.
Solution: Having been inspired by Al Gore’s award-winning film
An Inconvenient Truth, Overland envisioned an objective documentary about the importance and financial sense of reducing toxic chemicals, a piece that inspire others to embrace corporate stewardship—part of Dolphin’s mission. Dolphin seized this golden opportunity to put yet another “visionary” stake in the ground, and they agreed to underwrite the 15-minute documentary, which we wrote and executive produced in conjunction with a seasoned film company.
Result: Nontoxic Business: New Insights for Greening the Supply Chain features interviews with 11 U.S.-based experts: business people, scientists, journalists, and association leaders. The outcome is a compelling exploration of the challenges facing global industry in the reduction of hazardous chemicals. The film, which has been generating buzz in the media and at tradeshows since its release, became a cornerstone of Dolphin’s new Safe Source website as well as of their PR and public speaking opportunities, once more positioning Dolphin Software at the top of their industry.
