Client:
Aegon Insurance is an $11-billion Dutch company that is a household name in Europe and Asia. In North America, the parent company is not as well-known, but it owns extensive life insurance companies (such as Stonebridge Life Insurance) with a broad range of products available on the Internet.

Need:
As part of its quest to raise conversion rates for life insurance among North American consumers, the company needed a website that could accept life insurance submissions and send them securely to their back-end processing system. Depending on the online ads that led the consumer to the website and the state and age information generated, the rate quotes needed to be pulled from Aegon’s data. At the end of the process, a PDF version of the application needed to be offered to the consumer.

Solution:
The Overland Agency created a website in .NET, C#, and AJAX that could receive application information from the client, reading rates from Aegon’s tables and creating a custom delimited data structure that would be copied daily to Aegon’s servers via secure FTP. We also ensured that the site was legally compliant with all of Aegon’s requirements, and was capable of in-depth tracking and accumulating statistics of site visitors.

Result:
The new website and back-end processing system combined with an aggressive search marketing campaign allow Aegon to target customers with offers, geo-track responses, and ultimately sell and process more life insurance policies online. The website is easy to use, quickly generates quotes and approvals in minutes, and provides customers a PDF copy of their new policy. Through this web automation, Aegon is saving significantly on customer service costs, and acquiring new customers who enjoy the hassle-free process every day.
